Schlena Burnett, 56, a resident of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023. Schlena was born in Fort Gordon, Georgia to John and Joyce (Pries) Burnett. Schlena leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and cherished memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Schlena proudly served her country when retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Sargent. Her commitment to duty, honor, and service to the nation reflected the strength of her character and dedication to a cause greater than herself. Schlena was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosova Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, and the Expert Marksmanship Medal. She was a devoted fan of the Star Trek movies, Schlena was also an avid collector of pocket dragons, each figurine representing a piece of her unique personality and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. Family was at the center of Schlena's world. She is survived by her loving children, Joshua Evanishyn and wife Morgen of Barling, and Wesley Rambo and wife Tory of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Schlena was blessed with five grandchildren—Kayden, Eden, Elias, Priscilla, and Zidane—who were the light of her life. Schlena is also survived by her father, John Burnett, and her sister, Twylla Burnett. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joyce Landry. In addition to her immediate family, Schlena will be dearly missed by a host of friends and extended family, each touched by her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Cremation services are under the thoughtful care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
