March 21, 1943 ~ November 28, 2023 (age 80) 80 Years Old
Peggy "Joyce" Walter, 80, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. Born in Astoria, Illinois, to Hubert and Ruby (Cooper) Maxwell, Joyce's journey through life was marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and diverse interests. Joyce dedicated many years of her life to the field of healthcare, leaving an indelible impact on those she cared for and worked alongside. Outside of her professional life, Joyce found solace and joy in the simplicity of gardening. The vibrant colors and fragrant blooms that graced her garden were a testament to her nurturing touch and keen sense of beauty. Joyce embraced life with enthusiasm, finding delight in the thrill of chance and games of luck. Her favorite pastimes included frequent visits to the casino, where she enjoyed the excitement of bingo and the anticipation of the slot machines. She is survived by her loving children, Michelle Mogg and husband Brian of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Douglas Howland and husband Dan Howland, of Wood River, Illinois. Joyce leaves behind one beloved grandson, Joshua Mogg of Peoria, Illinois, and one brother, Quentin Maxwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and a wide circle of friends, all of whom were touched by her warmth, kindness, and zest for life. In addition to her parents, Herbert and Ruby Maxwell, Joyce is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Black. Cremation services are under the compassionate care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
